I have been using one that is very hard to understand. I can’t do half of what I want to do with it and I am seriously considering scrapping it and starting again. Are there any easy to use and versatile web builders (not too pricey please) available in the UK?

Drupal is a free (Open Source) website builder. Your host needs to allow the use of PHP and MySQL, but other than that it is very easy to work with.

I would recommend Wordpress (http://www.wordpress.org). Primarily a blogging platform you can use it as a CMS… Its free to use and there are lots and lots of free templates out there that you just upload and activate..
All you have to do is insert the content and the system does everything else for you.

I think it would depend on your familiarity with html. Some people only use textpad for website building.
But yeah i have used kompozer and that is a really good free option, you should look into many of the freeware options since they can pretty much do anything that the commercials one can like dreamweaver.
